Gavroche cameo

Anybody enjoyed Gavroche cameo? I think it was really well played and kinda shocking (some might find it even comical) to see the little kid getting shot.
As I was watching the movie never having read Les Miserables book but having read Gavroche book I instantly recognized this character as they called out his name. I thought to myself, wait a minute, what is Gavroche doing in this film? Then it dawned on me that it’s the same writer Victor Hugo who wrote both books and Gavroche made sort of a crossover appearance. I loved it!
