Reasons why Men in Black Sucks

1. They risk the entire fate of the world based on a guy who can run fast and pull tables.

2. The uber-cheesy scene where K is watching his wife from a satellite somehow in slow motion and at the exact moment she looks up into space.

3. Will Smith and his stupid one liners.

4. K getting eaten by an alien cockroach and surviving without a scratch.

Its a shame you didn't like this movie. Its supposed to be a part comedy tongue in cheek sci fi movie. Its not really serious.

reply

Those are all stupid reasons and you're an idiot.

Hey, I can take things too seriously and provide subjective opinions as objective evidence too.

1.- That's like saying people go to law school to become the constitution. He was one more guy, he didnt have the fate of the world in his hands.

4. The roach swallowed him.

1. It's an allegory about the new, 'exotic' immigration to the US from Latin America and Asia and our need to distinguish between good and bad immigrants - those who can assimilate into American society - and evil ones -- those who are supposedly inassimilable, criminals, or terrorists. No wonder it was popular in Europe too; xenophobia has been on the rise there for some time.

2. It fosters the idea that the people need to be ruled by a self-generating elite.

3. K assumes the white man's burden and acts like an agent of colonialism.

4. It promotes the notion that ignorance is bliss.

5. The cockroach antagonist evokes the American epithet for Mexicans.

6. The people are portrayed as mobs.

7. It's paternalistic and quasi-fascist.

Are you high? Yeah, Asia, African and Latin America aren't the least bit Xenophobic. Try being white and immigrating to those countries and let me know how that works out for you.

I completely agree with No. 3! I find it mindboggling that people consider this man funny. Beyond that, they consider him an actor. This movie would be so much better when someone else in that role. I'm sure that a lot of people could name someone far better suited for that role. Speaking of suits: Tommy Lee looks much better than the other guy!

No. 1 does have some merit: really stupid reasoning and an idiotic scene with that table. It's impossible to believe that he's the first and only one to consider moving a table. I've been in that situation (filling out forms with no table, just seated in a chair), and I hauled over another chair as a desk as nothing else was available; I didn't struggle with the forms, trying to write. That would be what anyone would do in that situation.

Then, there's the target range scene... Oh brother! It's like in the Harry Potter stories when everything is decided in his favor and he's so wonderful without proving anything. That's how I feel about Smith and his character.

I like much of the movie, just not when Smith is trying to be funny. I keep being reminded of "Wild Wild West". *shudder*

Who said Will Smit was funny?..He is not a comedian. It is the hilarious written film that is funny....and he is an actor, and a damn good one. Have you seen Pursuit of Happyness?....I cannot believe you don't understand the whole thing behind moving the table. Sometimes you don't select the generic, uniformed tough guy, but the down to earth one....Will Smith was never trying to be funny. That is just Will Smith...Probably just your inner bigot.

"A damn good one? His "acting" is insufferable, especially in this movie. When they press the red button and he yells. Good lord. Anyone else would have pulled that off better."

Well we will agree to disagree. See "Seven Pounds" and "Pursuit of Happyness", then tell me the guy cannot act.....The red button scene was one of my favorites of the movie.
