Who thinks it make more intersing ending if Ray dead instead of Barry?.

I think it be intersing to see Barry save Julie life as it will show that Barry really is good person and cares for Julie.

IN sequel it makes things more intersing as we be seeing Barry and Julie confused about there feelings as they falling in love each but feel guilty if something happens between them as both dated there best friend lovers.

At end of Movie when Barry comes to island to save Julie he says to Will you bigger ass hole then I was before I grew up and at end of movie Barry and Julie get together and realise they love each other and Ray and Helen be happy for them.

Most of all it be character development for Barry.

I always thought Helen and Barry were more interesting characters and preferred them to have survived because Julie and Ray were just so whiny.

I think Barry did show character development after Helen was attacked and he showed he really cared for her and wanted to protect her.

Interesting you see Barry and Julie as an item. In my opinion, they truly didn't like each other and not in the "Belligerent Sexual Tension" movie trope kind of way.

Barry was the cool guy, he was the one who deserved to live. The same with Helen. Julie and Ray just sucked bad.

You'd really need to rewrite Barry's character and tone down the fact he's a raving lunatic (not have him threaten to kill people with hooks or beat people up for no reason), but this would definitely be a lot more interesting. Or, we could do what I'd like best and just gut Julie, Barry, and Ray and have Helen as the final girl.

Though if they went this route, I'd prefer them to stay just friends

I think it would have been LEGENDARY if Barry saved the day at the end. And I wouldn't even want to tone down his character and make him nicer. I've always wanted to see a horror movie where the token douchebag jock type not only survives but is the hero at the end.

Even though it would be cute if he and Julie had a "moment" at the end, but not actually get together.

Same. But you can be a douchebag jock and still not be a homicidal lunatic. Lol.

That said, if you want to see this, I'd recommend looking into Hostel or the game Until Dawn. And to a lesser extent House of Wax. Pretty much all of them have douchey jocks/horror douches who turn heroic and either end up as the final boy or a co-protagonist

I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting, but.

We considering he choked her out for wanting to do the right thing, I can only imagine their future, him abusing her whenever his ego was bruised or she challenged what he instructs her to do. Example in the hospital after she suggests going to the police,"I am not going to the cops and nobody else is this room will". He

Was an a hole and he got what was coming, he threatened to beat Max's azz on more than one occasion, he was a bully, if he was so about it, he would have overpowered the killer and lived as long as Helen, she fought longer than he did.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. I much prefer Barry and Helen over Ray and Julie. I wish they had lived while Julie and Ray were killed. They were both boring, whiny, and just plain uninteresting! Plus Ryan Phillippe was smokin' hot back then even if his character was a jerk. Helen was a sweetheart and she didn't deserve to get killed either. I always lose interest in the movie after Helen dies. I couldn't care less about douche Ray and Julie! lol

Maybe if they still make the remake in the future they have Helen and Barry survive instead of Julie and Ray. Or just have Helen survive being the sole survivor. The remake can always make up for what they did not do in the original. They can add a couple new characters and have a character like Max survive and try to help the final girl this time around. Because I believe Max would have helped Julie he liked and cared for her very much.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe Helen was originally meant to survive the film alongside Julie and Ray, but the Director decided they needed one more death to up the body count. Think he mentions this in the commentary. That would have been great. Keep the iconic chase scene, but have her make it to the crowd.

As for Barry, I'm fine with his fate. I do agree having him survive instead of Ray WOULD have been very interesting, especially with the sequel in mind, though I wouldn't want him romantically paired with Julie.

reply

Yeah, that would've been interesting.
