Did it bomb at the box office?

Did it get a limited release in the US? It did in the UK. It also came during summer blockbuster season. It did get good reviews in the UK(Barry Norman put it on his Top 10 of the year - and Empire magazine gave it 4 stars). It seems it flopped at the box office.

The budget was 15 million and it grossed 28 million, so it nearly doubled its budget. That is usually considered good.

I'd go beyond "cult classic".....it is just a darn fine movie. Not like a story that gets outdated because of lack of CGI or anything, 'cept maybe the music (which I love....but then I am getting outdated).
