Are we supposed to like or sympathize with Patricia Arquette's character in this movie?

SPOILERS, and at the end, when Ellen Degenere's character attempts to use her for her own purposes as opposed to bringing her in as she is a police detective, are we supposed to think that this is alright and normal, or just accept it somehow, with flaws and whatnot, that she gets away after having killed several people, at the end of the movie, and no one has any real problem with it?

Or is it not so simple and maybe the film doesn't mind or care that we do or don't take sides, or maybe its completely as it is within the boundaries of its genre?
