Do Americans like this film????

I love this film, but as most Brits know that Americans have a very different sense of humour (not prejudice in anyway my Aunty is American).

Just this film is made up of very British humour and was just curious to see if Americans enjoyed it as much as us Brits?

I'm American and fully appreciate British humor over American. :o)

I loved it. I thought it was a sweet, funny and charming movie.
I also love Monty Python, and Faulty Towers, and Are you being served...
I loved Benny Hill so much...
I like all comedy. As long as it's funny, and not overly foul.

My husband and I enjoyed it but I am embarassed to admit that we had to put the subtitles on because the accents were so thick that we couldn't understand half of what was being said! No offense to Brits as I'm sure some of our regional dialects here in America are also difficult to understand - even to us. I once visited the southernmost part of Alabama (I'm from the North) and thought I'd entered a foreign country. I couldn't understand anything anyone there said. Anyway, I love a lot of British humor (Benny Hill rules!) as I'm sure a lot of other Americans do. I think it's just a misconception that we don't like anything but our own humor or movies.

It's not a typicical British accent. I live in the City it was filmed and based and I have excatly the same accent. It's a strong Yorkshire accent and I've been to many parts of Britain and had people ask me to repeat things or talk slowly. I find that if I go abroad people actually understand me better maybe because they are paying closer attention (but then I do try and get out of the habit of using our local slang, which isn't easy)

Anyway I love the movie, it's one of my all time greatest.

I totally enjoyed it and get British humor since I have been there and have family from there. My dad also loved the movie (his side of the family is not the ones in England)

I'm Californian, and I liked it! I like some British things, like Blackadder, Monty Python, Father Brown, and Shaun of the Dead. Probably more that I can't remember. If I see more British stuff, i'd probably like that too.

I"m American from Tennessee and love British humor! My boyfriend and I just rented this movie last night and couldn't stop laughing. I love Robert Carlyle! I also adore
Monty Python, Faulty Towers ect. I just adore movies that come from the U.K.
I'm a big fan of movies like Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, Little Voice, Formula 51, Dr. Who, and Torchwood. I would love to know where I can get Dead Fish. Desperately want to see that one with Carlyle and Gary Oldman. The trailer on youtube looks hilarious....

Yes, this is why I refrain from giving my review of this film in ANY way whatsoever.

I can't understand a word they're saying, but even if I could I suspect I still wouldn't like it.

However, I need subtitles and they're speaking English :)

It's like that European Vacation scene where Chevy Chase tries to use his interpreting device to translate what the British hotel owner is saying.

So yes, I'm one of those people who doesn't respond to British humor, so anything I say about this movie is invalid.

And even though I'm part-geek, I hate Monty Python for the same reason...I just plain don't respond well to British humor, but I know TONS of Americans who do...it's a toss-up really.
