Does anyone believe in faeries?

Because anythings possible, right?

reply

I like to think so.... even if in a pretending sort of way... i love to tell children that there are, magic is (even if just a small part) part of childhood, i`ve brought my two girls up thinking that there were fairies i think it good to have a bit of imagination, i hope that they do the same for their children one day... lifes difficult enough when you grow up nice to have a bit of escapism...! thanks V

I believe wholeheartedly in merpeople, but with faeries it's a little difficult for some people because there isn't a lot of possibility as to how they came to be. Unless you count James Barrie's explanation in Peter Pan, which I do. In the back of my house there was a big dying tree covered in funguses. It looked so magical to me when I was eight that I called it my "faerie tree," and made it a house for my two faerie dolls. Four years later, my stepdad and grandpa cut it down and replaced it wth a puny maple seedling. I was kind of sad, and asked them "Why did you do that? That was the faerie tree!"

reply

Plenty of people believe in faeries really. The question should be:

Do faeries believe in people?

reply

"Do faeries believe in people?"

Haha, considering humans are one of the most dominant life forms and because of our structures and things I have little doubt about them believing in us.
Then again faeries could be the exact same way and most people don't believe in them.

i believe in all mythical creatures- dragon, pheonix, faeries, merpeople. everything always has a little truth to it. thats just how things are.

reply

I believe in merpeople and faeries... But not really dragons because you'd think we would've found them by now considering the way they're supposed to act and how big they're supposed to be... But I guess you never know since new animals are found all the time.

komodo dragons are dragons none the less. and what about loch ness and ogopogo, and champie? they are dinosuar relatives...maybe dragons arent what we think they are.

reply

Well as I said in my last post, we discover new animals all the time.

yes i agree. i find it very interesting.

reply

i love mythological stuff and i do belive that there is some truth to all of them, they might get exagerated but i think that they did or do still exist

reply

Or as Mr. Tumnus's book was titled

"Is Man a Myth?"

Love to get ahold of a copy of that someday. I mean really, a species who preys on their own kind, exploits and kills their own kind for no good survival reason and seems to only revel in destruction and carnage, allowing themselves to be led by soulless greedy and destructive leaders. C'mon! Someone made those things up, sounds like a bad B Sci-Fi movie!

reply

Yes

reply

Absolutely.
I saw one when I was eight. I'm certain.

reply

thats amazing! do tell please...

reply

I was in my living room, facing the wall with the window to my right; and out of the corner of my eye I could see something small hovering in front of the window. I turned real quick and saw it right before it flew off.
It was amazing, I'll never forget it or doubt it.
I think as long as you believe with your whole heart, they will reveal themselves to you.

reply

I do, I've seen a little man (about a foot and a half) sittting underneath a tree. If you believe (truly do) it'll booste your chance. (And yes I'm a guy...)

Most of my heritage is from the British Isles so I think believing in them, studying, and reading about them is just what I should do.

reply

I most definately believe in all magical creatures, and fairies are among my top faves. I mean, if we have gaurdian angels, then why not plants and animals? And plus I believe I've seen a myriad of them, or someting odd. I even believe I might have caught a few on pictures. Anyway, when it comes down to it, I will not deny! =^_^=

I think 90% people of Iceland believe in Faeires and Elves.

reply

I like to think that Gnomes exist. It helps me sleep at night.

Satan is clearly trying to confuse us, just like when he put those dinosaur bones in the ground.

reply

I believe in fairies. I don't think anyone should ever tell children that fairies and santa clause and merpeople are fake. It's so awful...

what? are you serious? so you would rather lie to little kids and get their hopes up for years and then finally have to break their hearts by telling them the truth one day?

and we ALL know that Santa is just our Parents buying us *beep* from the store, wrapping it while we are supposed to be sleeping and then putting it under a tree.

come on lady, grow up. leave living in fantasy realms to little kids.

and I am all for letting the kiddies believe in what they want, hell if my kids wanted to believe in fairies, or merpeople...etc, That is fine, but I am not gonna go around encouraging this sort of thought, I am not going to tell them this stuff is real, because that is lying, and any sensible adult here on IMDB will agree with me when I say all this.

For a little perspective, I suggest a re-reading of "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus" by Francis Parcellus Church of The New York Sun. http://www.newseum.org/yesvirginia/

Your children are doomed to years of therapy...

reply

I believe. And Jolykiwi, you are right, about 80% of people in Iceland say they believe in what they call the huldufolk. The government even use mediums to make sure that potential building sites are not inhabited by fairies.

reply

Right! And I also believe in magic and all these wonderfull beings!
And fairys... well, I just love them! I also believe if you really believe in them, they'll let you know they are there! ;)

You been watching way too much charmed. Thanks a lot allysa milano >:|

if you believe in Magic then please do yourself a favor and cast an anti stupid spell on yourself.

reply

Well now I don't believe in God, but I wouldn't go around accusing people who do of being idiots. Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs, even if it seems silly to you. Some people believe in fairys, some people believe George Bush Jnr is a real live boy and not at all a puppet made of wood, taking advice from a talking cricket . . . I know who I'd trust to mind my wallet while I went to the bathroom. If people want to dream of incredible things in a world that seems to me to be increasingly heartless, well maybe they're onto something. The universe is full of things we can't explain.

reply

I think he would have done a heck of a lot better to take advice from a bug than from Dick Cheney and Karl Rove (aka Satan).

Well, the city's being built and I'm winning this game. So don't interrupt us with trifles.

reply

I believe in fairies, or faeries, if you want to spell it that way. I do believe in magical creatures, and magic. A hundred years ago, people wouldn't believe a lot of the stuff we have done or discovered. I want people to believe, but, like in the movie, I don't want everything to be discovered. I don't want us to discover the secrets of the seas, or the stars. I think some things should just be left a mystery, because I think that's where life truly lies, in mystery and imagination. Though I think everyone should try at least to consider these, and not to tell people that magic and fairies and dragons don't exist. It's a crime to me, to restrict a person's imagination. Or saying, well, when they're little, it's okay to believe in things like that, but when adults do it, people say they are immature and gullible. I think imagination should be loved and allowed to grow, not stifled. I think if a person wholeheartedly believes in something, then it becomes, or must be, real.

reply

Science and rational thinking is great. Life in itself is Wonderful. But...

...there's *still* magic and mystery in the Universe. Let it ever be so! Though I've never seen one:

Yeah perhaps to someone suffering from mass delusions sitting in a psych ward somewhere. I mean come ON. are you all serious? Fairies? FAIRIES?!?!

I have no problem with using one's imagination...I do it all the time. I am a very creative person...

But this is beyond all reason.

I love the Lord of the RIngs for examlpe

But I UNDERSTAND that all of it is a work of fiction. There are no elves, orcs, dwarves, or evil monstrs lurking about and there never were. They are FICTION.

Just like fairies and all of your other mythical creatures and concepts.

FICTION

As long as you believe, they will reveal themselves to you. When I was on vacation in Vermont, I took a lot of pictures of this area surrounding the hotel. When I developed the pictures, the trees were full of little clusters of light. One picture of a rose had a distinct fairy-like silhouette in it. I had ALWAYS believed, but this sort of firmed the belief. I was also told that if you see darting shadows in corners or whatever, you are seeing fairies. This happens all the time in my house. I am without a doubt a 100% believer in fairies and all creatures magical.

"Women keep a special corner of their hearts for sins they have never committed."

reply

I abolutely not only believe in them, I just adore them. They are such beautiful creatures. I think there is alot of things that could be real, that just don't reveal themselves to us, I mean heck if you were were to observe the human race, would you reveal yourself to us??? They would probably be scared that we would catch them, run tests on them & dissect them & if the right person seen one, they probably would. I believe their are several species that exist, that we haven't discovered. It would be easy for them to stay hidden & if Mer-people existed, it would be easy for them to stay hidden from us as well, we have not discovered every square inch of the ocean
That is why they only reveal themselves to pure souls.
I mean if Angels can exist, why would it be too far fetched for faeries to exist?

Jack: I love those moments.I like to wave at them as they pass by.

reply

Maybe you need to go see a doctor about all the "fairies" you are seeing out of the corner of your eyes

reply

I just saw the movie on SciFi, after not being able to find it for 10 years, and I wept for this exact reason.

I'm 19 years old, and I say quite proudly that I believe in faeries.
