WTF?? People From Florida Don't Sound Like This!!!

This was a phenomenal movie that completely caught me off guard, but the only thing that I didn't like about this film were the crappy accents. I grew up in Florida (namely in Duval County, where Keannu talks about being a prosecutor for 5 years)and people just don't have accents like that. I even spent many, many weekends in Gainesville (Alachua County)visiting family and even there, people just don't sound like that. Not everybody from the South speaks like they're from Alabama or Texas. I know that it's just a movie, but talk about flat out annoying.

Agreed with the OP.

Save for maybe the panhandle part of Florida, most of the state is VERY Northern in nature. e.g. Miami, Orlando, Tampa Bay are all similar to NYC. Gainesville is similar to Champaign, IL and Ann Arbor, MI - slightly left-wing college towns, but not overly so ala Berkeley, Austin, or the Ivy Leagues.

There are many southern accents in Florida, mainly in the northern counties and if you don't realize that, perhaps you just haven't been around.

Don't worry, Keanu drops his accent after the first 3 minutes.
