What's with the grvay? And why did they put stupid gravy cartoons when he got injected with the stuff?

Before Jonas injects Jerry when he's in the wheelchair, Jerry asks what the stuff is that he's going to inject him with. He says it's "gravy for the brain," basically meaning it'll turn his brain and all his thoughts into mush.
I think the cartoons were just part of what was going through his mind... it was all just jibberish. He was just picturing a bunch of random stuff.

yeah that stuff probably messed him up pretty bad. I have taken pain killers and stuff like Valium and Morphine and a less known one called Norco after I had back surgery and even those make you hallucinate...so that stuff would have been pretty strong...he would have seen alot of crazy things

The cartoon hallucinations happen because they've given Jerry LSD. With that stimulus his memory of all this returns.
There was a rumor that LSD was developed under the MK-ULTRA project. They were trying to hypnotize people to be sleeper agents, assassins. They tried to combine hypnosis with various drugs for mind control. (It didn't work and the project was indeed scuttled.)
MK-ULTRA is no longer a rumor or conspiracy theory. It is now documented, declassified fact.
