What a strange and surreal alternate universe

Sort of like a cross between 50s America and 50s England, with touches of modern references. Why did they make it like this, why couldn't they stick to a vintage english setting, is it to please the Americans or what?

reply

Because having it be a mixture of different places and references make the movie timeless, so that way it can be enjoyed for many years.
It make's sense, right?

His Name is Lancelot, And in tight pants alot
He likes to dance alot
You know you do
I do?

It is a fictional setting and not set in any particular country or era, just set "somewhere in the 20th century", much like with the Terry Gilliam movie, Brazil. A homely Diselpunk setting.

This was a thing in '90s family movies which even if they took place in the present day, they had this strangely timeless atmosphere like Mouse Hunt or Mathilda.
