Worst movie you watched because a BTVS/ATS actor or actress was in it?

Basically, what the subject^ says (though I had to shorten it because it wouldn't all fit):

What was the worst movie you watched because an actor or actress who you liked from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (or Angel) was in it?

Without a doubt, for me, it was (and still remains) Cruel Intentions 2.

Dear Santa by Amy Acker
Plot: A trust fund baby is told by her parents that they'll cut her off on her 30th birthday. Instead of seeking training or employment, she decides to fulfil the wishes of a letter to Santa by a young girl with a widowed father who wants a mother for Christmas. This woman - having got the letter by chance - decides to find where this family lives, stalks them for a while, and starts working at the soup kitchen the father owns in order to get closer to him even though she knows nothing about him. Even when it is revealed that the father is in a relationship with another woman, our protagonist still pursues him and sneakily attempts to one-up the girlfriend/potential fiancé. The fiancé is suspicious of our "hero" because her information doesn't line up due to her constant lies. She is presented as the bad guy for this and the only justification for the audience to feel this way is by making her uptight and bitchy despite being right.

Yes, Amy Adams (who played Tara’s cousin Beth in the Season 5 episode ‘Family’) was in Cruel Intentions 2, and Sarah Thompson who played Eve in Season 5 of Angel was also in it.

I probably should’ve said in my original post “actor or actress who you liked from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (or Angel), be it regular, recurring or guest star”. Apologies.

Southland Tales.

Victims, aren't we all?

reply

I liked Southland Tales, it was a mess but it is probably a flawed masterpiece.

Never been one for following the cast around really, but either "The Ice Princess" with Michelle Trachtenberg or "Valentine" with David Boreanaz. The thing about Valentine though is that it is an entertaining sort of bad, in the true tacky nineties/naughties meta-horror manner. The Ice Princess was just so cheesy, and for anyone with a basic knowledge of ice skating, totally laughable too.

I agree with this^. I actually didn’t mind Valentine and have usually watched it whenever it’s been on TV. I liked the fact that DB’s character got his revenge against those who tormented him in the past and got away with it in the end, as well as the fact that he ‘got the girl’ (though I do remember there being some debate as to whether Marley Shelton’s character was ‘dead’ at the end – given how pale she was looking, though I never thought that was the case).

I should probably add to this list Simply Irresistible (a movie with...a magical crab), which I watched for SMG, and Darkness Falls (which I watched to see if I liked Emma Caulfield in a role that wasn’t Anya) - both of which were totally not worth it.

Now I loved Ice Princess because it WASN'T too cheesey, for a Disney film it was quite mature.

reply

Southland Tales definitely.

Oh and Back in the Day with Emma Caulfield (and Morena Baccarin)

The Crow 3 : Wicked Prayer

edit: I almost saw Valentine in theaters but I never did, or that would definitely be what I'd have chosen. still haven't seen that movie to this day and glad I haven't from what I've heard. Darkness Falls (Emma Caulfield), Black Christmas (Michelle Trachtenberg), & Wrong Turn (Eliza Dushku) are also supposed to be bad.

So none of the movies in your 'edit' you have actually seen but you are already convinced they would end up in the worst movies with BtVS/AtS actors? That makes no sense. How can you know without actually having seen them?

reply

because i've seen thousands of movies and i'm an adult with a seasoned sense of judgment. and i know the directors and actors in those movies. i know the synopses. lol. stupid kid.

and besides the exact phrase i used were " these movies are supposed to be bad". thats all i said. quit reading into it. delete your account. delete your life.

I'll gladly delete my account if you seek therapy. Because you sound like you really need it.

reply

Wrong Turn is not bad actually. It's not revolutionary, or particularly original, but it's well executed and paced. If you like horror movies that is!

Open Graves, also starring Eliza Dushku on the other hand....

^This.

Even some of the sequels are pretty fun.

thats pretty good to hear, i just don't want to get my hopes up about Wrong Turn despite having heard it wasn't bad cause I might see it one day on TV. i definitely don't ever want to see Valentine or Darkness Falls though

"The Grudge"

A movie fueled by an illogical plot punctuated frequently with creepy images popping up out of nowhere.

reply

You're actually lucky if that's the worst one you saw. The Grudge is far from the worst SMG flick.

Axe not gonna cut it!

reply

Well, I did see "I know What You Did Last Summer", which was worse, but I didn't watch it because SMG was in it -- it just sort of happened. I didn't realize she was in it until after the movie had started.
