This is without question the best of The Rockford Files:
Better than the original series.
Better than the other Rockford tv movies.
Better than Maverick.
This is the one to see.
The story concerns Rockford's useless godson and the trouble he gets into.
The whole cast shines and the story is just fine.
If you don't wish to spend endless hours watching the old tv series and just want a two hour grab of Rockford, then this, without question, is the movie to see.

I was truly enjoying it because I know a lot of people who have useless kids. I know of one who actually did pull his life together. But more often than not they don't. Yes, they usually have enabling parents or relatives, just as in this case. But when they're as lazy, ungrateful, and conniving as Scotty is, here, that ending is just too trite.
I liked the first in this movie series better. Just my opinion, though....
