Best Part

When he acts like a freak and makes Ellen steal the beer and then chunks the can at the person on the street. Or the Mexican children's choir that sings 80's hair rock tunes during the wedding march.

thank goodness I found this thread! I was shocked to find so many crap reviews.

Best part? "you hit that old man, whitman." definitely. Or the moment they first meet, when they walk out into that absurd moonlit beach scene. I laugh and laugh thinking about the woman who falls for a nut in a moment of vulnerability like that.

I also like it when ellen calls her assistant a "most excellent dude," just cus it's SO Wrong.

I love this film.

The Walter hug- "people are pulling up chairs!"

I like the scene where Martha and Whitman are in the car, Ellen's expressions while he's singing "Love isn't always on time" are priceless...

I like the scene where Martha's been kidnapped by Inga and Bob,
"Hold her down, BOB!- Prepare to be consumed,Martha Alston!!! Prepare to-
Theyre dead Bob- didn't you feed them?"
Inga's completely manic and I love it hehe.

I like the craaaazy drugged out bit-with the burger,
and then ellen telling the little girl to go find a lizard...

I love this film. It's just soo random!!!

Ethel Rosenberg: History is about to crack wide open. Millenium approaches.

I can't believe no one has said this, but I will always love "God, you look sexy in that little hat"! Best line EVER!

I saw this movie YEARS ago and the clown dance always makes me snicker when I think about it. And I pretty much forget entire plots of movies, because I think a lot are quite mediocre...

It gets me every time, especially when the clerk is right on Ellen's ass. That is so funny.

My other three favorites parts are: (1) when she breaks out of the hospital; (2) when she tries to tell everyone that he's crazy and not her boyfriend. They think she's flipped out, big time; (3) Everything that happens after he kidnapps her and takes her down to Mexico. When the children come into the bathroom !

Sometimes a being a bitch is all a woman has to hold onto.

#2) "He sent me a football..his butt got bigger!"

I die laughing everytime she screams , "Don't call me little lady!" and then she gets hit by the flower truck.
lol
The whole movie is great, and it gets funnier everytime you watch it.

This movie really does have many brilliant comedic moments, but I think Joan Cusack steals every scene she's in. After the "Prepare to be consumed!" scene, as Bob is walking her back to the car, she turns to Whit and says "I love you," in an extremely weird and funny way. She, like Catherine O'Hara, is a comic genius.

Martha talking to her parents:

-M:What did you two do for Valentine's day?

-mom:We had ham

And their faces when she tells them she had a date, their trying to restrain enthusiasm

And their faces when she tells them he is a poet

when bill pullman breaks his own little finger, showing Ellen how much he "loves" her.....OUCH!!, Idiot. He cracks me up!

and when Joan Cusack is attacking Ellen, and Ellen asks, "Why do you keep putting sticky stuff in my HAIR??!!"....

the bubble gum, the (dead)ants in a jar, the unannounced tab of acid...
and Ellen's face makes the whole thing work. She is the Queen of Comedy,
and i wish she would make more films in that genre....

this movie is a classic laugh out loud comedy.
