Best Part

When he acts like a freak and makes Ellen steal the beer and then chunks the can at the person on the street. Or the Mexican children's choir that sings 80's hair rock tunes during the wedding march.

One of my favorite moment is when Bill Pullman and his mother in the movie are in each others arms when he and Ellen are leaving and Ellen is waiting. Her face is just killing me. looooool

I have to agree with the beer bit. Just her facial expressions that whole time while the worker was looking for antacids and disposable cameras. Also, I just can't get "the monkey! the big, mutha, lovin', monkey!" out of my head, haha.

Stolen Beer Tastes Better!!!

Damn fine coffee! And hot!

I LOVE this movie. I just can't help myself. ;)

Great parts --

1) Martha's blind date before she meets Whitman.

Martha - (to date, while watching belly dancer) "I almost wore that."
Creepy Date - (leering) "Really?"
Martha - (with disbelief) "No, not really."

...and later

Creepy Date - "You smell great."
Martha - "Well, I did shower yesterday."
Creepy Date - "That must be really strong soap. May I French kiss you."
Martha - (shutting door) "Night."

2) Playing charades with Whitman's family

Whitman -- "Ovary, fovary, zeeovery..."

Whitman -- "See, I knew it had something to do with the frogs."

those parts may be wonderful but i would have to say my favorite part is when Bill Pullman dresses up like a clown and climbs to her window and does their love dance. I must confess....sometimes when i am all alone i do the love dance....JUST KIDDING

I threw a beer can at a homeless guy once when my girlfriend was in the car. She wasn't my girlfriend for very long, I was tyring to get out of the relationship by acting crazy.

They shouldn't be homeless. I'm kidding aside, but abusing the homeless is not funny. After all, we could round them up, isolate and study them, extracting useful nutrients for our own personal use. OK I'll put down the Ross Perot pamphlet now.

The beer scene was funny, so was the creepy dancing clown on stilts bit.

I dont think a lot of people (including critics) "got" that this was a dark deadpan comedy.

It wasnt supposed to be light hearted (no it's not a 'romantic comedy'), it was about a guy who appears to be the perfect dream guy and instead turns out to be a stark raving romantic lunatic nightmare.

For anyone who has ever dated a total kook it's wryly funny.
Anyone brave enough to admit they find it amusing is cool in my book.

I can guess that if I had sene this in the theater that I wouldve been underwhelmed, but watching it at home with no pressure to "get my money's worth" I was free to enjoy the twistedness.

My favorite scene (though it's really hard to choose and the gas station scene has already been mentioned) would have to be at the Opera.

"Got that Mr. Really Nice Suit? I'm this woman's lover. LOVE-AH. I've made love to this woman, and it was beatiful." phfit phfit phfit- I'm not sure when in his monologue Whit makes the sounds, but it sends me into peals of laughter EVERY time.

I also love the scene in the coffee house. "Now that's love." and "Jump off a cliff with me." "I want to see other herbs." that entire scene is a riot.

I've got this movie on DVR, I can't seem to find it anywhere but EBay, and I've gotten burned one too many times to go that route again. Suncoast movies in the mall says that it's no longer available to purchase. :o(

Those are great ones!!!

I also like when Martha and Whitman are in the car and he's telling her he's in the zone and then he says,

"I'm gonna love you tonight til you're drenched in sweat, BABY!"

ROFL ROFL ROFL

I love the clown scene and the breaking of the finger scene. He was so great at playing a psycho...lol

reply

I think the best part is where Ellen has the gun and the mom says "now martha stop all this foolishness and go get married" then we see her foot tapping and Ellen says "Stop...that tapping" then shoots the gun and the bullet goes up to the light hits it and bounces off and hits the moms foot....lol for me that was hilarious

When Whitman drugs Martha is the best part. Or when Inga puts gum in Martha's hair.

reply

The scene with Martha and her secretary. She keeps going on about her roses from her fiance and they keep saying "okay" back and forth.

When Whitman gave Martha LSD.

Inga's boyfriend Bob was pretty funny too.

The Mexican children taking Martha hostage.

When Martha screamed at Whitman's mother at the wedding about her toe tapping.
