How were they able to get Jobe's body???

So am I to understand that this so called film begins right after the explosion at the building of the first one?

And Jobe's burnt body is found and somehow resuscitated?? He didn't even have a body anymore! He transfered himself into the virtual world completely, he no longer existed in the physical ream, just virtual reality. And then he made every phone ring in the world, as his birth cry. They completely ignored that in this movie.

They clearly showed that his body was reduced to a dusty clay figure as he transferred into the virtual world, yet when the second one opens up they're somehow able to acquire a Jobe's body, completely intact, with a few "burns" on it.

And then the movie begins with him in the real world. ????????

What happened???

This is what's referred to as "retroactive continuity", or "ret-conning" for short.

It's essentially when the continuity/canon of a previously established fictional work is altered in a follow-up to allow for more creative freedom. It's actually extremely common, especially in the Sci-Fi/Horror genres, although you honestly see it everywhere.

While ret-conning usually doesn't change THAT much of the previous work (a good example of ret-con work that doesn't change TOO much would be Spider-Man 3, and how we discover that Sandman was actually responsible for Ben's death), it will on occasion change larger details. As in the case with this film, where the filmmakers chose to ret-con Jobe's body as not being destroyed by the upload process (and also eschew other parts of the ending), so that way they could have some scenes in the beginning of him in the real world.

In all honesty... It was silly in the first film for his body to become a pasty, crumbly husk, so this bit of ret-con work didn't bug me that much.

And FURTHERMORE, this is my signature! SERIOUSLY! Did you think I was still talking about my point?

His body was still in the physical world, just sucked dry... Why or how that happened is just whatever.

Would have been nothing to do with that weird corpse.

They hit "undo" on the computer he used in the first film, and it reversed the flow of his virtua-soul juice and shot it right back up his ass. Voila, new Jobe.

And what happened to his psychic powers? Yeah, he's still able to control cyberspace and be a master hacker, but he seems to be about as smart as everyone else.
