Don't switch this video with the Keaton movie on the video store shelf.

Because I that would be mean.

Too late. Much, much too late.

SOMEONE DID THAT AT MY VIDEO STORE A WHILE AGO!!! It scared the bejesus outa me, what with the moving cover and everything!!

reply

Surely the cover is a bit of a giveaway. It doesn't exactly look like a child friendly Christmas classic.

reply

Thats the thing! I only saw the video cover spine that said jack frost and i though, Oh , this movie was good. SO I ulled it out and there was this evil moving snowman thing. The ni screamed and dropped it. But that wasnt the must embarrising thing. Then i tried to walk away and I walked into this little kid and I screamed again. I didnt eventhink it was a kid at first. I thought it was a pot plant :(

And all you would have to do would be to take this video from BEHIND the cover, and switch it with the one BEHIND the Michael Keaton one. That way the cover will be the same. When the person pulls it out from behind the counter and takes it to counter, the clerk will only read off the name "Jack Frost"

reply

At Blockbuster the actual case that holds the movie doesn't have the cover image on it. The only giveaway would be the R rating on the spine. Frequently they don't even have plot write-ups on the back of these lower-budget kinds of movies... So technically, all you'd have to do would be to take the AMRAY blank Jack Frost case and put it behind the Michael Keaton version.

Though, I'd think it would be crueler to do it the other way around. Family fun w/ Michael Keaton as a friendly snowman is my idea of pain. At least the horror movie version was intentionally stupid.

I agree. I like Michael Keaton but I hate kids.

Groovy.

Oh , this movie was good.

That was your first mistake boy-o.

I was at a video store the other day and they had both versions. I did just that. LOL

Haha, great idea. I never thought of that before.

What a beautiful time capsule thread to be preserved forever and ever.

I found the Keaton Snowman to be more scary looking.

I know this topic is old, but this was one of the reasons why I double-checked any previous rentals (label on the VHS). I also made sure the last person rewound it. Otherwise, I'd put it back on the shelf and grab some other video.

I did accidentally watch this when I was younger. My parents had a premium package with the cable company in the '90s. I remember seeing something on one of those channels that used to tell you the title of what was being shown, as well as a brief description.

Unfortunately, it used to scroll by so damn fast that I couldn't catch a lot of the information. The only thing I noted was the time it was being shown (pretty much a few minutes before it began). Plus, the fact that it was only displayed on about a third of the screen didn't help. The infomercials on top consumed a good portion of it.

Seeing as how it was the late '90s, everybody thought it was the kid-friendly movie with Keaton. They were only a year apart for crying out loud. I remember laughing my ass off at people's reactions.

At least they had "Killer Snowman" in the title to the sequel.
