I knew Tim Hennis
I joined the army in 99 and after basic and AIT I was stationed at Fort Lewis, in the unit the 20th cmmc (renammed the 304th later). The first seargent at the time was 1SGT Hennis a very large intimidating man who in reality was very cool laughed very loud. Well one day while he was inspecting our rooms he made some comment about a prison cell, and I gave him some flack like "and how would you know so well" trying to be a smart ass. And of course I come to find out later that the most senior NCO in the unit was on death row for 2 years. Always a good story to tell people. But overall a very nice upstanding man, who i'll always think of kindly.
