Movie's Synopsis-My Problem with It.

The description says Ted is trying to contain his curse and makes a last ditch effort to free himself with the love of family. But almost from the moment he arrives, he really does not even seem to be fighting his problem very much. He seems disagreeable, hateful and right off seems to not really care he is a werewolf. How he treats the dog really shows, to me, that he is not really trying to rid himself of his "affliction". So I really don't see why the synopsis says what it does.
