how can Cole be alive in 2035.........

if he was killed in 1996. makes no sense.

It's a while since it but he travels back in time and is killed while his younger self watches. There are basically 2 Coles in the same place.

We see flashbacks previously about the incident not realising that the person in it is himself. The film in a way is a loop as the child at the end will eventually grow up and and go to the airport etc

Like a lot of time travel films it also relies on a paradox. Here the question is how did the future Cole exist originally? Logically there should be an original timeline where future Cole didnt exist for the timeline to start thus it becomes a paradox as there doesn't seem to be a starting point

I don't think there's a paradox here.

A paradox would be if adult Cole went back in time to kill his younger self or his parents. Then he couldn't be an adult that could go back and kill his younger self.

It was the younger Cole that saw his older self get killed.

Maybe more of a loop but then the problem is that wouldn't there be an original version where future Cole didnt exist or was there always a future and past version

It depends what younger Cole remembers. He was a supposedly normal kid up until he saw the airport incident. He grows up, then the virus hits humanity and 30 plus years later he becomes the later Cole.

Would Cole remember the airport incident with all that happens ? Maybe?

As an adult, Cole may be more preoccupied with stopping Goines than remember the incident as a child.

good point

The movie hints at the loop playing out before, as Cole and Railly feel like they remember knowing each other before. In the beginning, there would be a Cole who went through his childhood having never seen himself die, and who survived the virus. Then once he went back, the loop started (I believe there's a loop for him at least).
