Reboot

With Alien, Predator, and Terminator getting reboots/sequels in recent years, it seems Species would be the perfect candidate for reboot as well. A 2010s Species film could benefit from enhanced CGI and visual effects to make the alien forms of Sil more menacing. The reboot could still have the sexuality of the original but maybe tone it down a bit (something more along the lines of Under the Skin) and have the hunting/killing and global domination be more of the main focus.

In terms of the plot, Sil could run around the city killing people and searching for a mate while the heroes go after her and fight in cool action sequences early on in the film. She would then kidnap one of the main characters and force him to impregnate her halfway through the movie instead of towards the end and give birth to an army of aliens (almost like a queen bee) for the finale of the film (maybe she births them as tiny pods to explain why there would be so many and they would grow rapidly in a hive-like hideout). The heroes would go to rescue their kidnapped comrade and attempt to destroy Sil's children in a big explosion to prevent them from taking over the world and have a final battle with Sil to kill her. There could be a more personal relationship between Sil and one of the main characters (maybe the Fitch character of the reboot is Sil's biological father through the experimentations of the alien DNA).

A reboot or remake would be cool! I do like your idea of Fitch being Sil’s biological father to give them more of a personal connection. The “army of alien babies” might be a good addition too since it would up the stakes from the original film. I mean Sil giving birth to just one baby at a time doesn’t seem much of a dire need to prevent as they were trying to hunt her down in the original. However if there is a risk that her species could take over the world through just one conception/birth cycle, then it definitely would give the heroes more of a reason to stop her.
