Juanita was an annoying bitch!

She pissed me off, I wish Anthony would've strangled her to death.

This thread is another reason why I feel that this film is one of the most unersated film of the 90's. I wish they'd tone down the violence and language. This could've been viewed by a wider audience. Too many F bombs and needless violence. When it comes on regular TV, you can't even enjoy it. All the bleeping out.

Yeah, she was very annoying.

I'm glad Obama won, but I will not jump on the Pro-Choice bandwagon

Juanita was unappreciative.

You guys forget. Anthony had never kept in contact with her during his tour. He didn't even know who his daughter was. It has never been stated, but I'm sure he was tappin the Vietnamese prostitutes.

You're right. She missed him. She said she'd wait for him and she had to have been upset because, like you said, he didn't keep in contact with her. It had to have been hard for her.
Some of the things she said were still unnecessary and insensitive.

When I was younger, I also thought that Juanita was annoying, but once I had a child and viewed the movie again, I understood her more.

She was young and in love and had sex with her boyfriend, who'd told her that he didn't want a commitment while he was gone. She writes to him and he doesn't even write back to her (yet he writes back to Kirby) to acknowledge his child's existence.

But while he was gone, who could blame her for fooling around? He TOLD HER that he didn't want to be committed and he followed it up by not even writing to her. So to her, she was single. And the meantime, she meets a man who takes her out and treats her child well. As a mother, the greatest way to gain affection from me is to do things for my child. I also imagine that as a young woman, it was nice to have an older man to take her out and comfort her while she was home and alone.

Anthony comes back and it's like they're virtual strangers, but she doesn't care, she's just glad to have back the love of her life and have her family together again. But he comes back and he's obviously not the same kid that left (and she remarked on that in the movie). He's angry, he's distrustful, he's drinking a lot. Keep in mind, she had no clue what he went through while in the service and he wouldn't even talk to her about it.

Being that she'd already had one child to take care of without his help, she knew how hard it was to take care of one child and she was about to have TWO! I used to be one of those "money doesn't mean anything" kind of women, but once you have a child to support, the thought of supporting a grown man is a negative. He clearly wouldn't talk to her, and the little things like affection were gone.

So essentially, he comes home and he's a cranky, broke, unaffectionate, alcoholic, and she's not even having great sex.

Juanita wasn't a bitch, she was a mother that was frustrated and worried about taking care of her family.

It's easy to forget that Anthony actually had a job at the butcher but lost it due to low business. He was treated like that was his fault. In essence, Juanita's constant nagging was probably the one thing that pushed Anthony over the edge to perform that heist.

As sad as the ending was, Anthony almost seemed better off in jail.

Saying that being a Marine was stupid enough but another thing that got me was when she got mad that Anthony asked who the father of the second child was after she admitted to messing around with Cutty in the present.

reply

It was just a bad situation all over.

She told him what he wanted to hear, that she slept with cutty, that's what Anthony wanted to hear, I don't think she did though.

Spoiler alert for them spoil sports out there! Y'all like spoiled milk, stop crying over it!

With the Hughes Brothers being big fans of Martin Scorsese and influenced by him (Menace was like a mixture of Goodfellas and Mean streets), this scene reminded me of Raging Bull when Vickie "admits" to sleeping with Joey and a bunch of other guys, she says it out of frustration due to Jake's paranoia.

I don't know about this case though, if Juanita was sleeping with Cutty.

he came close
