Robert post-Francesca ... did he die alone?

He gave Francesca all of his belongings. On one hand, the act might signify his love for Francesca and his remembrance of those 4 magical days.

But could it signify that Robert didn’t have anyone else to give his belongings to? He didn’t have a family when he met Francesca. Given his age, what are the odds that he will find someone? Young girls won’t want an old man, and older ladies without families aren’t too plentiful in the 1960s.
