When was the exact point that Jane fell in love with Robin?

I think it's the entire "Hoo-ha", *beep* scene in the kitchen. You could see it written all over her face when she played "Superstar" on the piano and looked over.

I just watched the movie again and it has to be before this scene, because before all the "hoo-ha" Jane goes to the fortune-teller who guesses that she's in love. So I assume she's just falling in love slowly troughout their trip.

That's right!

If you remember the final scenes- the first sign that she was failing for Robin is after they watch The Way We Were. you can see something change about the way Jane thinks about Robin. It all seems deeply ingrained in both their friendship and their love.

When do you think Robin started to fall for Jane?

When do you think Robin started to fall for Jane?

Good question. When I saw the movie for the first time back in the 1990ies (yeah I saw it in the theatre, that's how old I am ), I didn't think Robin had "fallen for" Jane. I thought she loved her like she loved Holly. A strong bond but not romantic.

After seeing it again a few years back, I started revising that opinion. I don't know if it's in the script or if Parker and Goldberg just decided to play it that way but it's there.

And to answer your question, I can't really pinpoint it but I believe that Robin's so angry at Jane after the bartender thing, not because of the invasion of privacy but because Jane is trying to get her laid. It makes her mad because she thought Jane knew she loved her too, even though she knows she wouldn't act on it, but when she finds out she was talking to the bartender about her, she realizes that Jane is clueless about her feelings. So at this point, she's already in love with her.

I disagree. Jane betrayed Robin by telling the bartender that Robin was infected. Robin trusted Jane. Jane betrayed that trust. She had the best of intentions but, to Robin, Jane became just another person that saw her as defined by her disease.

I don't think the film really pinpoints a moment (true to life, there is often NOT a specific moment, but a realization that comes over you after the feelings build up in you), but I think it happens quite early, while still on the road trip. Holly picks up on it, and scatterbrained as she is, she is a very intuitive person and very in tune with such issues. Also, since she was also previously one of Jane's love interests, she could clearly see the signs.

I think Jane falls for Robin the moment Robin says that she used to sing 'Close To You' by The Carpenters. A few scenes later Jane sits behind her piano right before she sells it and she plays 'Close To You'.

Throughout the movie Jane constantly teases Robin that she's a Carpenters fan.

The moment when Jane plays Superstar on the piano in Tucson is where Robin realizes she's in love with Jane.
