Poor Chris O'Donnell

Someone apparently forgot to tell him that he wasn't starring in a serious Batman movie, but I gotta give him credit for trying despite everyone else around him turning the film into a big, huge joke.

As I was just saying in another thread, Batman Forever has a lot of problems but O'Donnell isn't really one of them. I agree that he was better than the film surrounding him.

I just recently watched him in The Chamber and it reminded me that he was once a hot up-and-comer for a time in the 90s and then he just disappeared. Apparently today he's slumming it as a character on NCIS: Los Angeles.

Eh well. At least he's working, I guess. Vertical Limit will always be my favorite movie of his.

I actually never thought he was a bad actor, he unfortunately was a victim of Batman and Robin in the sense that he hadn't had time to build up his resume by that point and therefore suffered far more than some of the more established actors such as Schwarzenegger and Clooney.

From what I understand he was in competition with Leonardo Di Caprio for the role of Robin and if Di Caprio had won and it had been Chris who went on to star in Titanic then I think things could have panned out a lot differently. (but of course this is all speculation).

Actually, the runner-up for the role of Robin was an actor named Michael Worth. He was most widely known as a martial artist who appeared on the short lived show Acapulco H.E.A.T.
