Anything would be better than what we ended up with.

As you well know, I quite like this movie. But I would have liked to have seen Burtons's version.

I think it's pretty unlikely Burton would do Two-Face after not having Harvey Dent in BR, I think that indicates a big decrease in interest. Burton's Riddler could be good but not necessarily so.

Didn't that released concept art for B3 feature BDW as Two-Face?
I only know for sure that Brad Dourif was supposed to be the Scarecrow.

I'm guessing that Warner Bros. would've invited Tim Burton back under the condition that he didn't receive so much power or creative control like he did w/ Returns. And since that was really the only thing that enticed Tim Burton to come back in the first place, that likely wasn't going to happen.

While i would have liked Keaton to have done a 3rd Batman movie I Prefer this Batman Forever with the Underrated Val Kilmer for a few reason's one if Tim Burton's 3rd Batman Movie Would have been anything like Batman Returns am glad he didn't do it don't get me wrong while i like Batman Returns its too much of a Tim Burton Movie then a Batman Movie.2 I hope nobody takes this the wrong way but am not to fond of Marlon Wayans being Robin while i like Marlon Wayans am a fan of him and his brother Shawn i don't like that they would have changed Robin from Caucasian to African American and Changing his whole backstory. I was never a big fan of them Changing a Character From African American To Caucasian or from Asian to Caucasian But i will say i don't have a Problem that Harvey Dent was played by Billy Dee Williams and Eartha Kitt as Catwoman. 3 It Would be less Batman and more about the Villains another reason i have a problem with Batman Returns is that Batman is hardly in the movie people always say that he has No Screen Time in the 89 film and the Dark Knight which is Wrong in Batman Returns he was seen way less in that movie. Those are my Reasons why am Glad that Burton didn't do a 3rd Batman Movie However i will say this i would have loved to seen Robin Williams as The Riddler.

Kilmer is my favorite Batman actor for the time Being(After BVS Affleck will be my favorite) I was not sad to see Keaton go,he was ok but I felt he was acting a little too awkward for a character like Bats,If anything I would have loved to see Kilmer play the role for a longtime but just with better scripts and directors

I'm gonna show you something beautiful everyone screaming for mercy

reply

Me Too i wish Val could have done 2-3 more Films

I thought Kilmer did a fine job as Batman, the vilains however ... sheesh! ... they were all over the place and cartoonish in the extreme. Pretty hard to take them seriously and they ruined the movie for me.

I like elements of Batman Forever. I used to think I liked it more until I watched it again recently though. Kilmer as Bruce and Batman is really not great. He doesn't fit either role very well to me. His Bruce I don't really buy as he just doesn't come off like the millionaire playboy type and his Batman while slightly better just seems to be missing something. Like he doesn't have the dramatic weight behind the performance to really make me think that's Batman. Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face is pretty bad too. I don't mind the look they went with for the character but the way Jones played it just doesn't really work.

I like O'Donnell as Dick/Robin mostly. The Robin suit was really pretty well designed aside from the stupid nipples. Overall I feel like the Dick/Robin character was essentially what the movie called for. Some parts were dumb though like Dick living with Bruce seemed like a stretch since he looks old enough to be on his own. The orphaned character didn't work being that old I don't think. Carrey while definitely over the top is decent as The Riddler too. It seemed like he took a lot of inspiration from Frank Gorshin which is cool. At the same time though it also felt like a bit too much of all the big nineties Jim Carrey characters rolled into one though. I don't think Schumacher went as overboard with it as he did with Batman & Robin. The sets aren't the greatest but are alright mostly and I like all the Bat vehicles (the Batmobile in particular I always found pretty cool honestly). The story is serviceable and I think is better than most of the others from the Burton/Schumacher films because Bruce/Batman is at least a lot of the focus of it whereas the other films he kind of takes a backseat in what are supposed to be movies about him. Also I like the score for both Schumacher films. Not as cool as the Elfman score for the Burton films but I think the Batman theme is pretty memorable. Overall

It could have been better if Burton and Keaton had gotten to do it.

reply

No, Burton - as dark as he could be at times - still couldn't shake off camp. I wish he hadn't done the first Batman film tbh.

reply

EXACTLY. Burton's films tend to be very campy. Just in a modern gothic way.

No. Also as much as I liked Batman Returns he just turned it into his own personal freak show.

Although it's quite good I think Batman Forever would've been better with Burton and Keaton.
