I just couldn't watch this show

I remember this show was on late usually when there was nothing else on so I'd turn it on the odd time..... Every time I watched it, it was like watching a crappy version of Married....With Children. I think maybe the only reason I watched it was for Nikki Cox. Her brother on the show was just terrible, he reminded me of a zombie. I think he's on Entourage now. The father was pretty bad too.....I don't remember the mother, I think she was on the show, then left.... So, does anyone agree with me that this show sucked?

Amen, brother...

Yeh, but Nikki made it bearable.

Seems to be a reoccuring theme ;)

I loved this show. I thought it was funny.

4 words: Bobcat Goldthwaite, Nikki Cox.
Ok, so it wasn't as good as Married with Children, but it was something different. It made after midnight TV fun.

They just started showing this on ABC 1 in the UK a few months ago - what a load of rubbish!! I didn't even raise a smile once. The only reason I kept watchin is because I knew Bob Goldthwait was in it and thought he might raise the laughter quotient a bit... Sadly he didn't.

Here's an example of the kind of people who enjoy this show...

In the first (and last) episode I had the misfortune of watching, the dad character gets upset about something or other, so goes to the fridge and takes out a six pack of beer...

At which point all the men in the audience start to laugh, cheer and applaud hysterically.

Was that supposed to be funny?

It caught my attention because of Nikki Cox, but I actually enjoyed the show, especially Mr. Floppy. I thought most of the jokes were good (I don't know what that says about me)

i went to a bunch of tapings of this show in high school, since i was in video production class. the gay guy on the show was also the warm up guy and he was really cool. but the show really wasn't all that great. once i asked him why the house had a basement if it took place in the san fernando valley, he thought i was a smart ass for saying it, but 10 years later, it still makes no sense to me.

You would like to learn how to write, too.

reply

Yes, it sucked big time. It didn't help that it was on the WB network either.

reply

I think the funniest thing is the bit on the show's Wikipedia page where it notes that the show existed in syndication for one year after the show's demise, and hasn't been shown anywhere since then. Fifteen years later, nobody remembers it except old Married with Children fans like myself and that's only because I like awful old TV shows as a hobby.

reply

Oh yeah, most definitely, it was a bad MWC rip-off. Remember after the actress who played the mother left, they tried to distract people from this by having Nikki Cox dancing all through the opening theme? The show would have been better if every episode had been just Nikki Cox dancing through the whole thing.

Seems like most guys watched this show just because of Nikki Cox. I think the show is ok, some episodes are even pretty funny, I think. I know it´s kind of similiar to married with children, but I think that similarity got lost when the show went into its 4th season. And at least they didn´t pretend that it´s not a rip-off.

reply

I thought it was a good show and it was all that was left after MWC got cancled, but of course a season or 2 after that this show ended.

Never watched M.W.C. so I can't really compare it. I liked the show, cheap as it was. (They would use the same extras over and over.)

It was a Married With Children Rip off But I enjoyed it.

It developed a different kind of humor with time, less repetitive and less selfconscious than MWC. UEA makers knew their faults, thats something you cant say about many comedies.
Some episodes were bad, some others were classics, but all in all they left a whole lot of great lines, wonderful satires, and a place for those of us who dont care about "Friends", and series of that kind.

-Floppy (as a TV seller): how much would you pay for this kind of article
-Jack(as a hook): 1000 dollars
-F: sold to the idiot, for the rest of you, itll be 200.

Trash. Utter trash. Unredeemed even by Nikki Cox' stunning physical attributes.

reply

I liked it. Not a great show by any means, but it did make me laugh fairly consistantly until the last season, when it was very hit or miss. Most comedies can't get me to laugh at all, even ones that I like such as Scrubs and What I Like About You. Married...With Children was a good bit better though and somewhat more funny.

Please bring this beloved TV Show out on DVD because this show has an increasing avid fanbase but still has never had a DVD released or ever even been put on streaming sites (e.g Netflix and Itunes).

It is a great disservice preventing potential future viewers from watching this great TV Show and also preventing people from re-watching a TV Show that they have loved since childhood and have grown up with watching.

This is one of the only TV Shows never to be released and considering it only has 5 seasons equalling 100 episodes it should not be too difficult to finally release it.

Many thanks from all future customers.

It was very watchable.

But if you're comparing it to Married with Children. MWC is better only because of the actors playing it.

Al & Peggy were far more enjoyable to watch then either parents on this show. Plus Al (Ed Oneal) was the true star of the show. This show it was Nikki Cox. She was not terrifically entertaining other than she was incredibly hot, even more so than Kelly Bundy. Although when Kelly's stupidity was on display, it was incredibly entertaining.

The Bunny... It was alright, they could have done without him.

Ryan Mallow, (Conolly) was flat out dumb but was entertaining, plus he's a character you could root for, he had that kind of quality.
