Parallels between All That and SNL

All That was always intended to be an SNL for kids, but I think that there are way more similarities that should be discussed.
*Kenan and Kel are to me, to All That what Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi were to the early years of SNL. You can say that they both were the backbones/heart and souls of their respective shows and of course, both duos leave just prior to the final seasons of the "golden ages" of their shows.

*Amanda Bynes is the Bill Murray of All That. Like Murray on SNL, Amanda wasn't an original castmember (Murray came in to replace Chevy Chase and Amanda came in to replace Angelique Bates), but outside of Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell she is by far, the most iconic castmember of that era. Just like you could say that Bill Murray is following Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi (although Gilda Radner isn't that far behind). And after Aykroyd and Belushi left following Season 4 of SNL (1978-79), Murray became the de facto "star", just like Amanda Bynes was following Kenan and Kel's departure after Season 5 of All That.

*Josh Server was perhaps to All That what Jane Curtin was to SNL. They both didn't get as much attention as fellow castmates (i.e. Aykroyd, Belushi, Murray, Radner, Kenan, Kel, Amanda) during the early years. But by the Season 6, Josh was the only remaining original castmember left and on SNL, with Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi gone, Jane Curtin used the void to successfully debut numerous characters and impressions.

*Lisa Foiles is to All That what Eddie Murphy was to SNL in a way. Both of them came along when the show had to completely rebuild from scratch following the departure of the remnants of the original crew. And both Lisa and Murphy were clearly the most talented and charismatic actors among their respective casts. I suppose that Jack DeSena was to Lisa Foiles what Joe Piscopo was to Eddie Murphy, in that they were more or less, the second best things that they had going for them during those rebuilding years.

*I suppose that Danny Tamberelli is sort of like to All That what people like Billy Crystal, Martin Short, Christopher Guest, and Harry Shearer were to SNL during the 1984-85 season. What I mean is that Danny was probably the first All That cast member who was already "famous" (due in no small part to The Adventures of Pete & Pete) before joining the show. The 1984-85 season was unique in that it was the first post-Eddie Murphy season and the last before Lorne Michaels returned as executive producer. So SNL tried to make up the void that Murphy (and to a lesser extent, Joe Piscopo), by filling out the cast with "all stars". Danny himself, had to fill a void when he took over from Lori Beth Denberg on Vital Information.
