Il Postino A Cinema Masterpiece

The work of Michael Radford combined with the amazing writing power of Antonio Skarmeta' and the dramatic last performance by one of the greatest actors of all time Massimo Troisi makes Il Postino one of the best movies of my generation. I have barely reached the adulthood age of 18 and can safely say that this movie brings a nostalgia to me that few movies have made me felt. Every time I watch this movie I am entrapped in the subtle beauty of the relationship Mario and Pablo Neruda have in this film and can relate to their relationship on many levels. This is one for the ages and it would be a shame to miss out on such a marvelous work of art like "Il Postino".

I personally loved everything about this movie!
The soundtrack, the acting, the camerawork, I could go on and on.
The use of subtle juxtaposition and symbolism (the moon, open windows, etc) Mossimo Troisi left a beautiful mark on the world with this movie, it is a sincere and passionate tribute to love and poetry.

I thought it was way overrated and rather bland. If it hadn't been for the Weinsteins exploiting Troisi's death for publicity at every given opportunity, I doubt the film would have been noticed much at all. The musical score, however, was lovely.

Its hard to explain how I feel, but ya... These kinds of movies are like a flower growing around the giant 100 year old trees in a forrest. Everyone steps over the flower just looking up at the giants, but I think these little gems are more beautiful than the big giants.

This is a perfect film - funny, loving (of life and relationships), sorrowful and optimistic.
