Movie About A Grumpy Old Man

Would've liked to have seen a hell of a lot more of a young ball player coming up and playing in his time and in his prime. Not just a few short B&W flashbacks. I wanted to FEEL the early 1900s (not the 50s) and the characters and places that made up that era. The wild scrooge at the end revealing all his hangups and troubles should've been just one part of it, not the whole thing.
