Bassett too cut for Tina

What was with the ripped arms Angela had for this role? Tina didn't look like She-Hulk. Way too incongruous (maybe Bassett was getting in shape for her bodyguard role in Strange Days, released a year later).

Watching it now. Agree. I hate the trend of actresses being really ripped in every part they do.

Love the way she looked. It kind of made the movie for me.

When I first saw this, I absolutely LOVED her cut arms. I thought they were so attractive.
Buttttt, saw this film a few days ago. I must say: those muscular arms really grossed me out. It was all too much for me. Even though Tina was fit, and had legs for days, Basset's arms freaked me out.

"Kickin' in the front seat, Sittin' in the back seat, Which seat can I take?"

I thought she looked great, but it made the idea of Ike beating her up seem implausible. She didn't physically look like someone who could be victimized.

I agree too, Tina had a wonderful body, she was in shape but not cut like that. You can over do it, hard bodies on women take away femininity. I didn't like looking at her arms in the movie.

Angela Bassett has said in a couple of interviews, regarding this film, that she only bulked up in order to handle the physical contact she had to do for the film. Angela isn't really buff like that anymore.

Not to me they, burgundywoose!

Makes me wish even more that she'd gotten the role of Storm in the first Xmen movie.

True story: long ago I had a girlfriend who had a girlfriend who fucked Ike Turner when Ike and Tina were in Boston. My friend's friend was getting done by Ike in his hotel suite--when the door burst open and Tina stormed in. She bitch-slapped Ike all over the room. The other woman was certain that she was going to die, but, when Tina finished with Ike, she turned to my friend's friend and said, "And YOU! You be careful who you sleep with!" She escaped unscathed.

Tina Turner is a force of fucking nature. Sometimes you have to lie to tell the truth. Angela's physique in this movie is historically inaccurate, true, but it helps to convey the physicality and power of this truly remarkable woman.

Please don't let my anecdote cause you to think that Ike wasn't a scumbag coward abuser, because he was. NO ONE deserves to be battered! But don't EVER think that Tina could not hold her own, and be anything but a coward.

Interesting story! I totally believe it!
