....Tim Curry's performance as Cardinal Richelieu was similar to that of Alan Rickman's Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.

Alan Rickman was the best thing about that movie and maybe he inspired other actors to play baddies a similar way.

Gotta say these two and Mask of Zorro all share similar clichés and all are excellent 90s swashbucklers... something that seems to have died after 2002's Count of Monte Cristi cause all the movies we get now have some steam punk or kung fury or random crap that ruins it.

Hm, he didn't really ham it up (in a good way) like Rickman did. Curry certainly wasn't bad, he just wasn't as entertaining as Rickman was.
