Am I the only one who actually found Dwight funny?

Half of all the stuff he said was just b.s. Like he said that he could hunt but he couldn't. He claimed that he could play the saxophone but he couldn't and when he finally played that saxophone I just about died. How the hell did he think that he could play the saxophone? He was dead serious, too. He didn't know the first thing about reading music but he actually thought he could play the saxophone. Just what the hell did he think playing the saxophone consisted of...just some idiot blowing into the mouthpiece? Like people take saxophone lessons just to learn how to blow into a saxophone and make noise come out the other end? Then had the nerve to try to entertain the family with that crap. Didn't he realize that he didn't sound anything like the song on the Tv? The funniest part was the fact that he just couldn't stand Tobias and every little thing that kid did liked to drive this guy even crazier. Like the time he was yelling at Tobias about being a "candy hog" and said that all Tobias wanted to do was read books and sing. Where I'm from, that's a good thing. When he took the needle on that record player and scratch the record because he was irritated about everybody talking loud, I laughed my ass off. The guy was hilarious without even trying.

I woke up this way...

😄

You're not the only one who thought Dwight funny.

I was 11 years old when this came out and I remember me and my older brother just laughing at Dwight even back then.

Almost every scene with him was pretty damn funny, ya gotta admit.

I mean, yes Dwight was an inconsiderate arrogant *beep* but the way DeNiro played him was just hilarious!

I love this movie!

Yeah, I agree. I think it's one of funniest movies of the 90's and DeNiro's "Dwight" absolutely kills me. My brothers also love it due to it making us laugh and we've adopted various lines of its dialogue over the years:

"I know a thing or two about a thing or two."

"I heard you're quite the performer."

"You just got dry-gulched, mister."

"Fights for the Pink Team."

"You're a hog who eats other peoples' candy."

"And LIES about it!"

"Well, that's a goshdarned lie!"

"You can call me anything you want except late for supper."

"Hotshot!"

And many more...

The thing is was this supposed to be a funny movie? I think it's very well-made and well-acted especially by DeNiro and little Leonardo, but was it supposed to make people laugh out loud? Isn't it supposed to be a serious drama as to an abusive and dysfunctional family situation? It's such a odd movie in that its subject matter is so serious, but everything about it is so frickin' funny.

"Hey, Leopard". I know you, leopard. I can see those spots that you can't change, leopard.

Because of his depiction of Dwight, DeNiro knows exactly who Donald Trump is.

I just saw this for the first time and thought Dwight was unintentionally hilarious for most of the time. "You're a fucking hog!" Was one of the best moments. Good movie, 7/10.
