Thank you! I feel weird thinking about it now that I'm 20, but back then I thought he was gorgeous! He's definitely considered a good-looking kid no matter how old you are.

If I said the same thing about Lindsay Lohan in Freaky Friday (for example; there are a million other examples of young girls in the movies) I'd have been called a pedo. What if I said Anna Chlumsky was cute in My Girl and I wonder why she never did anything else. I bet she is hot. Would you think I was a weirdo? Why can you say that stuff?
Not trying to start an argument but am trying to start a conversation. Someone got ripped on the INterview with the Vampire board about Kirsen Dunst once. Granted she was younger than Benny but you see my point.

I agree, doowop.....It's a fuc kin double standard that I'm tired of.

I think it is the context. I'm sure most people would look at me funny as a 22 year old woman saying, "I think Benny is freaking sexy as hell", while saying, "I use to think Benny was so hot when I was a kid" would start a series of nods from other who FELT the same way.

Liking and crushing on kids your age is not creepy, it is normal.

There’s no one on IMDB I care enough for to use spell check- suck it grammar Nazis

Well, that depends. The original poster said that Benny WAS hot...meaning, the girl she was at the time of the movie thought he was hot. I myself thought he was hot, but that was when I was between the ages of 6 and 12. Now when I look at him, although I find him a handsome young man, I would feel weird saying he was hot (I am 26 now).

And I don't think Kirsten Dunst was too much younger than Mike Vitar when she filmed Interview...she looked about 12? I'd say Mike Vitar was around the same age when he filmed Sandlot.

I think he was 15.

There is a double standard men preying on young girls throughout history created that double standard. As a 24 yr old female who watched this movie as a kid and it being very dear to my heart. I thought Benny was gorgeous when I was young. Benny being older than me also makes it less weird because I watched this movie as a kid and found another kid hot. Now at 24 Benny is still gorgeous but its different then me being a 24 yr old now and finding a 14 yr old boy hot that I'm older than. I don't know how much sense that makes lol. If I find a 14 yr old boy hot now it would be gross but finding a 14 yr old boy hot that I grew up thinking they were hot is different.

Even the producers, or whoever did the casting thought he was a good looking kid. That's partly the reason why he was hired, and the fact he was a good ball player. The guy who played Squints makes a passing mention of it in this interview. Check it out. And whoever did the casting were most likely male adults. I think it's okay to say a kid's good looking as long there's nothing sexual about it.

I had a huge crush on him when I was 12!

Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?

My sisters and I all recently admitted for the first time that we had huge crushes on Benny when we were kids. Felt kind of awkward about saying that, now that we're in our 20s, but hey, when I was a kid, hell yeah! He was a hottie.

"He's already attracted to her. Time and monotony will do the rest."

reply

Yeah, he was!!!!

reply

I don't remember thinking that, but sure he's a cute kid!

reply

He was handsome looking for sure, and he was type of a friend that everyone needed.
