Jeffrey Combs' fake chin...

Made him look a lot like Bruce Campbell. Anybody else notice this?

I've always thought that as well.

Yup, I was just watching a part of it and thought the exact same thing. James Woods would have actually made better Lovecraft.

Yup, exactly my thought. I'm watching the movie right now for the first time and that is just what I was/am thinking... Kinda neat that he looks like Bruce Campbell, since both of them are these two really good, cool, slick B-[horror]moviestar heroes. Too bad Jeffrey Combs never gotten more regocnition as an actor... Bruce Campbell as well for that matter.

Why do you suppose they wanted to put a fake chin on him? I thought Combs has a more unique face because of his underbite.

reply

Maybe to look like Lovecroft put on it was.

Yeah,I thought of Bruce too the first time I saw this. As a great actor Jeffrey is I think the giant from Twin Peaks looks more like H.P. I still was very very happy to see Jeffrey.

Movies are reflections of time, places and people.

reply

Yes I was thinking the same trough all the movie.

Good make up by the way, when the movie starts I recognize the voice of Jeffrey Combs, but when he appears I was like, wait a minute, he really is Jeffrey Combs?...

reply

every time i see the actor jim jansen in anything
i think its HPL

reply

Same here. I got the voice and his eyes, but I still did at least a triple-take the prosthetics were so well done. Richard Lynch from the first story was more recognizable in his, but I see way worse prosthetics in current movies with exponentially bigger budgets than this nearly thirty year old film. Still have never seen better aging make-up than The Exorcist from twenty years prior.

reply

LMAO. I was coming to this post to say he looked like Bruce Campbell.

The chin!!
