If this movie were released today it would cause an uproar
The transgender lobby would raise hell if this movie came out today calling it transphobic and offensive.
shareI'm not so sure, it's all pretty obvious to everyone what's going on, it's not like he feels he's a female in a man's body, it's all a show which enabled him to have his own gain and get inside his family's home.
I would be more concerned about the consideration in 2021 of the clear violation of the family's privacy and security by a father who was legally separated and legally bound to only see the kids when properly arranged as per the terms. I love the movie but this has always been on my mind, that he was really screwing around with the the kids' and wife's minds by creating this adored individual who became so integral to the family before it all fell apart.
Still a great movie though.
