Even though through the whole film and even in that police station, Peter Strauss' character...

... did not ever angrily insult his wife despite her de-facto abusive behaviour (I wonder what his sort of character would be like TODAY in our digital age etc) and was often defensive towards her and even in self-defence he never really struck her back (paradoxically, SPOILERS, she actually at least twice has succeeded in injuring HERSELF during her moments of outbursts towards him, even though at times she also injured him particularly in the skin crawling car attack moments) and even wondered if she may get well etc at the end, I couldn't help but wonder...

Deep down inside, did he ever MENTALLY get angry at her, maybe even, sorry for the language, call her a "bitch" in his mind and thought about in anger maybe strangling her or hitting her back (yeah, it might not be politically correct, also, BESIDES him being a victim here, he was genuinely shown as a nice and kind sort of man throughout the whole movie!) or EVEN thought about, say, getting away from her etc.

Even with his generally forgiving mentality for the most part?

To be honest, I don't know how I would act here, but I hope it never happens to me in that way either, but if my wife repeatedly hits or shows any rage towards me, and if I suffer a car door closed on my fingers and destruction of my property such as my TV, even if I actually LOVED her before, I WOULD consider getting away, and I think that IS the right and logical thing to do, no?

But anyways...
