Sure, this movie has its tongue in cheek moments. But if you watch it and ignore the sequels, it's genuinely dark and even creepy at times. The opening scene always creeped me out a bit.

It's not a comedy, but it's not a horror movie either. I can't seem to make up its mind or is just too lazy to do so. If they had tried a little harder, it could've been a genuine black comedy.
