I have heard of men becoming obsessed with women, but....

Richard Farley out-obsesses them all. The crap he pulled would NOT have been tolerated today since there are stalking laws. This movie drove me mad. If I were Laura, I would have called the cops when he showed up at my apartment with that gift. I would have gone straight to them and told them that Farley is not leaving me alone. I probably also would have completely blown up at my employers. They had no right to treat Laura that way. I also would have carried that gun everywhere with me and called the cops when he showed up in the garage to give Larua that note. Seriously, obviously the laws against stalking did not exist in the 80's, but if this happened today, Laura could have sued her company for not doing anything to protect her and Farley would have been arrested.

Fortunately, there used to be better times and better anti-stalking laws about 50 years ago. Then in the 60s and 70s, everything just got out of hand.

I think that screen notes say that this is based on an incident that got the stalking laws passed. But he was really obsessed like no other.

remember I had a girlfriend, who was being stalked by someone who I had beef with in the past and was using it to get back at me, to deal with this, I had my family, and friends to stand with me and her through all of it, I eventually had to deal with the perpetrator on subsequent occasions, won't forget the whole ordeal and the dude was a sociopath and attacked a friend of mine as a message.
