Did Charlie really work out 8 hours a DAY?

Is that really possible to have him work out eight hours a day?
I know it takes months of intensive training to get his body to look like that, but 8 hours a day?!? Won't he be exhausted just lifting weights after two hours?

Or is it a mistake in the trivia section?

I hadn't heard that but it does seem unlikely unless he was doing low weights with high reps.. maybe a lot of it was cardio to lose body fat? Even very few professional and semi professional body builders would do that much a day because it risks over training and muscle loss, most only do around 6 at the most. Ha sorry I know that doesnt answer your question in anyway but I agree it sounds a little exaggerated

reply

Nah it wouldn't make sense to work out that long.

He probably did a few hours every day, or at least every other day. If you don't give your body time to rest, then you won't get as good of results.

reply

Even so,being an ex bodybuilder I was very impressed with his results..his Deltiod was perfect.

There's no way he worked out for 8 hours per day. Even doing low weights with high reps he would only be able to work out for 2-3 hours per day. In my opinion, and I'm not a bodybuider or professional athlete, but in my opinion there is no need to work out more than 2 hours per day to get in great overall shape, and that includes warming up, cooling down and doing 20-30 mins of stretching.

20 minutes weight training on a single major muscle group is certainly enough to stimulate the muscle to make it grow, provided you stick to a good diet and get enough protein, and rest don't overtrain

he also could of gone on long walks, but no I don't believe for one min he worked out for 8 hrs a day, your body needs to recover, working 8 hrs everyday would do nothing for you.

I think it’s possible. Arnold used to work out that much in his competitive hey-day. His (Arnold’s) routine used to consist of 4 hours of working out, sleeping (don’t know for how long) then another 4 hours. Then of course time to eat, probably bang a chick or two, then more sleep.

Maybe not 8 hours of weight lifting, but he was active 8 hours a day for sure, because he is really ripped in the movie. I read some guys saying he maybe be working every other day, or 20 minutes per muscle group or giving time for muscles to grow or rest, well, everybody knows that you don't do same muscle group every day, if you work legs today, and not do them next three days, they will rest fine. Also, I have no doubt he had insane trainings, like any actors preparing for action movie, just read what 300 cast did (even dough they had CGI help), what Brad Pitt did for Fight Club. Also, I have no doubt he was using something, because, hey, who doesn't? What he put in his body today, some sort of creatine or some other chemical is like tic-tac comparing today.

Probably.

They didn't have Insanity back then, so I guess they had to resort to the old fashioned "work out 8 hours a day"

reply

And that is why he's winning. All that hard work paid off.

The thing is, if you read how Bruce Lee worked out, and how much, eight hours a day doesn't seem that much of a stretch.

He admitted he did steroids for the Major League movies, and I'm all but certain he did it for this.
