Rita is lame.

Andie McDowell always played the most boring characters. "I usually toast to world peace", looking disappointed because he doesn't make the exact same toast as her. Nothing about any of her characters was ever funny or interesting, even though she was in so many comedies. Being the straight man takes comedic timing and talent (ex: Jason Bateman), and she never had that, and most people's mothers are more lively and fun than her characters. I'm so happy they stopped putting her in movies. Obviously I can't stand her. She probably cross stitches horses and cats all day.

I am with you on that one. All of it!

He is trying to nail her in one day. If he had multiple days it probably wouldn't matter any, but because he doesn't is why everything has to be perfect.

I agree about her though

Rita looks great but is a bore. Who drinks sweet vermount on the rocks, lame. I would dump her for Nancy everyday.

Nancy? What about the 'French maid,' Phil's jaw-dropping date at the theater (Sandy Maschmeyer)?

reply

That sounds like you don't understand movies. You have stated a problem with the writer and producer rather than Andie McDowell. She played no role in the script of her character. If you want to complain about her, say something about her acting ability.

reply

She's great at playing everyday women. Nowadays, A: female characters are ridiculous good looking and cool and B: an actress of her age would never get a leading role, unless is a very serious drama.

Think of her as the female Richard Dreyfuss, lol 😊

I always thought this, too.

My least favorite line--in fact, it just pisses me off when and how she says it--is when he is gorging his face with breakfast.

"The Wretch"...

One, what a stupid thing to say. Two? You're going to QUOTE me POETRY in the open? What are you, some 20 year old girl who just aced her first poetry class, feels haughty about it, and has never spread her legs for even the wind?

I would have picked up a chair, shattered it over her head, picked her up .. RKO! RKO! RKO! Then nabbed Nancy and back-doored her brains her out.

reply

Yeah, the poetry reciting is cringe. It's just a strange thing to do. Unless we're talking about great poets, back off library barbie ~

Yeah, well I get claustrophobic sucking strange dick!

Andie McDowell was well cast in "Sex,Lies, and Videotape"
She fit the roll well.

I agree with you as well, especially for the "world peace". Not just that she looks disappointed (and even gives him the condescending look of "I'm so much better than you") because he doesn't have the same toast, she does it because he toasts to the Groundhog. After being such a huge groundhog fan, constantly repeating how adorable he is, toasting to him shouldn't bring her such disgust.

And yeah, overall she seemed like she makes up her mind about a person as soon as they say one thing that is not in accordance with her criteria/opinion.
