Who would have you dropped?

I'm just curious, because I don't think I could have dropped my own son over a cliff. Especially since one of your kids was already dead. I wouldn't have been able to do it. I don't care how evil he was I would have saved Macaulay.
What about you?

Your son basically admitted to killing your other son, tried killing your daughter and has just tried to kill you.... if you wouldn't drop him over the other then i'm sorry to tell you.. you're a little sick

That must be horrible for a parent. It appeared in the movie that Henry's mother and father really loved him so he would have no reason to be psychotic(like many abused children become). Also, Henry didn't seem like he had any mental illness that would make him act that way. He was just born mean.

He was a sociopath, that's how he was 'born mean'.

Not to mention your nephew just stopped you from having a big rock dropped on your head.

I don't think I could have dropped my own son. In the movie, the mom is only just realizing her son is disturbed towards the end. Of course she could have been in denial the entire time (I'm sure his disturbing behavior was apparent even before Mark arrived) but if she was sure he killed her other son she wouldn't have taken him into the woods to ask him. With that said -- I think it'd be hard for her to all of a sudden decide to drop him based on the fact that she wasn't even sure that he was messed up until he pushed her.

I would like to assume I'd have unconditional love for my child no matter what they did in their life, and that includes if he ever tried to harm me. If they were as disturbed as Henry, I'd want to get them the best help possible. And if there was a slim chance he could manage his psychological problem or even get better, I'd try to save him just so we could at least try.

Knowing me though I'd try to save both and then I'd end up losing both.

Finally, someone who has a child of their own who can actually answer such an asinine question. I don't see how any parent could kill their own child, no matter what they've done. I'd have no choice but to help him up, and do everything I could to get him the help he needs. It's your responsibility as a parent.

Wow, you seem to be forgetting the fact that if she pulled Henry up, she would have to let Mark go, if you say she should have dropped Mark, seek therapy.

reply

I don't know if I could have dropped my own son. I'd probably think I could cure him. And I like that in the film, Mark does say that he's not sure if Susan would have saved him if she had to do it again.

Like another poster said, I'd probably hang onto both kids and end up going over as well.

Even though it be be hard to drop my own kid I would have let go of Henry. He pushed his mom over the cliff and tried to kill her. He tried killing his sister and killed his brother. If he was saved he might have tried killing the mom again. The mo saved the right kid. Mark was trying to save the family.
