A huge disappointment

I'm a very big fan of Michael J. Fox and was expecting a simple, fun comedy. Instead it was insanely boring and just full of ridden stupid clichés. The clichés would've been fine if I at least laughed a bit, but I only remember chuckling slightly at very few places. Why do people like this movie?

I always laugh when I come across these posts. It is in every.....single......movie........thread... Always.

Yeah yeah I know, haha. But I was quite upset since I was just expecting a simple, enjoyable movie, something in style with The Secret Of My Success. But instead it just pissed me off and I was bored out of my mind.

The title alone should have told you that this was going to be a romantic comedy. Those are always going to be cliche'd and never actually funny.

It was decent.

I found this much better than Secret of My Success. It's lighter comedy, more mature and less ridiculous. I liked Barry Sonnenfeld's films in the '90s and Michael J. Fox usually elevates any movie he's in, even making dreck like "The Frighteners" and "Greedy" watchable.

For an 80s Rom-Com it wasn't torture...MJF's likability made it tolerable, if anyone else played that role it would have been a steaming turd.

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?

reply

It certainly wasn't a miserable experience, I'll give it that. It was just pretty embarrassing with the poor attempts at jokes and establishing emotion.

Michael J. Fox was the only good part of the movie, but he couldn't save it.

reply

It came out in 1993, so it was not an 80s rom-com.

I enjoy this film, but it's not very good. What it is is GORGEOUS. It's a real postcard of 90s NYC. I appreciate that.
