Wow this show pulled no punches...

The bodycount for this cartoon was ludicrous! Haha!

Can't believe this was a kids show when it was more mature than most of today's sci-fi movies for adults!

This show was really something else, too.

Everything had consequences, a bunch of characters died; heck one of the characters didn't even survive an atmospheric drop due to a pod failure, even after she had barely survived several cut-throat battles in previous episodes. Harsh.

I remember liking this show back when it aired, but always only caught bits and pieces of it. After re-watching it recently it's safe to say that this show was not only well ahead of its time, but I doubt most kids understood all of the political intrigue, psychological underpinnings and multiple sociopolitical subplots that were unfolding throughout the series.

I mean, heck this show was bold enough to acknowledge genetic racial differences (a huge no-no in today's media), acknowledge that racism isn't inherently bad (LOL I can't even remember any movies that had characters hold onto that kind of viewpoint and be proven right), and that jingoism is the only way to confront outright genocide.

Not to mention that this show was pretty bold... featuring concentration camps, human slavery, and systematic extermination of the human race by gathering up mass amounts of people, stuffing them in carts and launching them into the sun!

Good gosh, I can't think of any other sci-fi show that was as coherent, driven, and bold as this one!
