He is wearing the white parole gown when he escapes, and he steals the car at the prison and drives to Wilshire and Santa Monica where he emerges wearing an orange mesh shirt and overalls. It appears to be 90s Era clothing and not likely to be worn by anyone at the prison.
It had the prison insignia on the coveralls. Looks like attire that parolees would be given ... it appears they were given little chance to fit in with the new society.
I couldn't believe when I read his filmography that he played a toilet (no joke) in According to Jim
I missed that, but now I see the man logo on the coveralls is the same as on the white parole gown. I guess he had time to change before stealing the car.
