Which is better? The movie or the book?
shareBook without a doubt. Stephen King's books never translate that well to screen since there is usually little dialogue. They usually always okay and it is always fun to see his books as films. Although I do admit the film makes slightly more sense with the twin "growing" as opposed to what happens in the book which I have never made much sense out of.
shareI agree, the book is by far better. I always liked the way Stark came to be in the book, it had a strange surreal feel to it :p
shareThey are both great, I love the book (probably my favorite King besides the Dark Tower or Insomnia) and this is probably my favorite movie that has been adapted from his work, and George Romero just makes it better, I can't compare, because they're both awesome

I truly like how Romero brought King's book to the screen.
It's not often a director can capture the full meaning of the written word as well.
I mean, The Dark half was a much better interpretaion of King's work than either Kubrick's The Shinning or DePalmer's Carrie. Tho, all three are fine examples of good filming!!
If you like reading ... read the book.
If you prefer movies ... watch the film.
I try to be open-minded when it comes to movie adaptations of S.K. books, as someone said; they can be difficult to translate to the screen. The Dark Half is one of my favourit books of his and as I expected, the movie didn't quite live up to the book.
That said, this is far from being one of the worst King adaptations. Maybe not top class, but it's got some memorable moments. I really enjoyed how George Stark was portrayed in the beginning.
I love films alot but for me,the book was so much better
