The last episode was atrocious

What was with the action film direction, Mulder's murderous rampages, and the abysmally written final act... all subtlety thrown out the window. Why did someone think it was a good idea to resurrect an intelligent supernatural crime thriller and turn it into Die Hard with the original aging actors? Unwatchable.
