Yes, the Cowboys. To pacify all the 4th grade wannabe tough guys in the audience. If the show had a shred of originality it would have said about any other team besides the Cowboys, Fortyniner's , Giants, Steelers, or any other trendy team at the time. If a Texan then why not the Oiler's?
shareThe Oilers are a hockey team. In your post, you actually name the team, although its a mere coincidence, as the other team in Texas is the Texans. The show takes place in Dallas so thats why it makes sense that he played for the Cowboys
shareWhen the show started in 1993 Houston's team was the Oilers. When I referred to a "Texan" I was talking about Trivette's previous history in the state of Texas. Texan's originating in the state of Texas. My point was the Cowboys were too obvious a tie in regardless of where in Texas the show took place. The Oilers were an AFL founding team in 1960 and had a long history in Houston. They won two AFL titles and if things had gone differently for them they may have won a SB before they left Houston.
