Alternate Universe episodes..... UGH!

Anyone else just hate these episodes?

The first alternate universe episode was mediocre at best, but not something they should have gone back to, let alone throughout the saga numerous times.

I've seen the first one make top 10 lists of best episodes. There are five episodes. Five out of 176. Not that numerous.

reply

Five out of 176, is a much higher share than ONE out of 79 for the original series. And that one was enough for ALL of the series, really.

reply

Like the Ferengi episodes, some people like them, some don't.

reply

I like the 1st one from the 2nd season, after that, no thanks. Should have been a one and done.

Spenser with an "S", like the poet.

reply

I didn't really like them either, so I always skip them when I revisit the series. Last time, though, I watched them, and it was nice to have some "new" episodes to watch.

reply

Please don’t mention Moogie.

reply

Yeah, I dislike them, I think they are the worst thing about DS9, especially when the holographic singer turns out to be a real person in the mirror universe, really dumb. I'm going to skip them the next time I watch the series.

reply

I don't really mind them, especially with Nana Visitor's role of the alternate Nerys who seemed to want everyone. She did such a great job that it makes them tolerable.

Been watching this series for the first time and just finished that alt universe Ep in the last season. Have to agree withe some not liking these and the Ferrengi episodes. Though this last one had some humor that I actually enjoyed. The New Dax reminded me of Pat Benetar.

Can't believe I avoided this show for this long. Thanks to Netflix I'm able to watch like this and find it to be a pretty good show.

Gonna rewatch Enterprise next. Never watched it on a big wide flat screen before and the pilot was fun seeing this way.

with Nana Visitor's role

She seemed to really enjoy that role and had a lot of fun with it. It's the best part of those mirror universe episodes.

She did seem to be having fun. Same thing in Facets when she was playing one of Dax's past hosts.

I like them (same with most Ferengi episodes). But you kinda have to view them outside of the overall storyline. The mirror universe doesn't make much sense, but they were always enjoyable for me. Especially the running gag with the Ferengi dying in each episode!
