Okay, this is really weird, but upon posting my misheard lyrics, I had a major flashback and realized that EVERY line was misheard and I realized I missed a line of my un-lyrics...

I don't remember even guessing at the words in the verses but it seemed really obvious to me that the two (apparently most) misheard lyrics were:
Does your dog bite?
Is he mean?
So that's what I've been singing to myself. For 20 years.
He actually does say "Does your dog bite." The creators of the show affirm it in the commentary for "Nightcrawlers" on the Pete and Pete DVD.
