How could the monster have a visor?

Demon, devil, or mutation, designing the creature with a visor was, in my opinion, a huge mistake. What is the logic behind a mutation in the sewer, or the devil, having a sun glass visor stuck to its head?

Because it was the early 90s, the times of Terminator X. It was cool back then.

Demon, devil, or mutation... We don't freaking know. Maybe the writers -- And I know this movie is supposed to be by a single writer, but it sure seems many-times rewritten -- had some idea, which got lost along the way. In any event I don't see why a supernatural entity couldn't have any gear it wanted--I mean it's just not rationally explainable in the first place, right?
And, if the thing is, as the film also suggests, some sort of mutant, it could easily have reams of backstory explaining how it made or procured a visor to help it deal with... bright lights.
